Clonmacate is set in a rural location on the outskirts of Ayr and has very spacious grounds with two large adjoining garages, and is home to five large bedrooms of which 4 of 5 the bedrooms have on-suites. As well as a massive living room, we have another sizeable lounge area as well as a stunning kitchen and dining area with comfortable seating alongside the patio doors, again with panoramic views which lead out on a spacious decking area with these stunning views. Clonmacate has garden space wrapped around the house with panoramic views over Ayr and again some stunning views overlooking the Firth of Clyde with a clear view of the Isle of Arran on clearer days.

Needs of Young People

Young people who have experienced failed attachment will find sanctuary and healing within this warm and impressively furnished setting. The therapeutic surroundings at Clonmacate would also offer an engaging learning and living environment for children and young people with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Individuals experiencing issues of anxiety and trauma as well as resulting social and emotional behaviours may benefit from the independent living setting available, which also allows for structured peer engagement on the grounds.

The family environment, routines and strategies are in line with what works best for individual young people and staff ratios reflect the needs of the young people, offering various levels of support, and include a 24 hour waking service.

Assessment and Planning

Clonmacate facilitates robust internal assessments, taking full account of the SHANARRI model, and also ensures young people access relevant external agency assessment, such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS) as required. On the basis of this careful assessment, including risk assessment, and existing plans, along with representatives from the placing authority and parents/carers and the young person, agree suitably challenging outcomes. Care staff and education staff work closely together to agree shared needs, consistent strategies and approaches, mindful of the unique residential setting which provide personalised learning opportunities.
